Neil Gaiman was awarded this year's Newbery Medal for The Graveyard Book.  His reaction to the whole thing makes for a very fun read.  (If you read the blog entry make sure that you check out the tags at the bottom.)

I watched the live ALA webcast on Monday morning.  When they announced his name I started jumping up and down.  Good thing my co-workers already know I'm a bit weird ;) 

The book is a delight to read and I highly recommend it.  Neil Gaiman mentioned this morning, during his Today Show appearance, that The Graveyard Book is set to become a movie.  Should be interesting, I'm already in a tizzy waiting for Coraline to come out.

Sigh, if only I could buy more Pushing Daisies. I will probably knit much more than that :) If I spend any more time at the library, they're going to have to pay me more!

A four year old and his grandmother came into the library this week and the little boy got his first library card.  He was extremely excited.  As they were leaving I heard him say to his grandmother, "Now I can drive a car!"

This my cat's idea of helping!

I've been away from home for the past week, house-sitting for a co-worker.  It was very nice to have a place all to my self and to be so close to work (5 miles versus the 42 I normally drive each way).  The one big drawback was that my co-worker doesn't own a computer, therefore no internet access.  Between this and the recent hurricane I feel a bit out of touch with all of my lj friends. My schedule should be a little more normal until I go on vacation towards the end of the month.

We have now had electricity for a solid 24 hours after being without for ten days. YIPPEE!!!!!!  Unfortunately three of my co-workers are still in the dark.  The latest estimate for power restoration for them is this Sunday.

I've been trying to catch up with my f-list, but ten days equals a lot of stuff.

Have I mentioned what a relief it is for the power to be back on???  Life might actually be on the road to normal again.

Just a quick note to say that I did survive the hurricane.  Still no power or internet at home.  The internet came up here at work about an hour ago.  I'll write up a longer post about the whole ordeal tomorrow or the next day.
